This home renovation project centred around revitalising the upper and lower decks, along with the outdoor stairs, of a Papamoa Beach Road property. The goal was to create a cohesive, functional outdoor area that reflected the homeowner’s love for gardening and spending time outside. From the outset, it was important that the new design felt naturally integrated with the existing landscape and complemented the lush planting around the home.
After discussing materials and finishes with the client, Tauranga building company RM Build recommended Balau timber for the decking and stairs. Known for its durability and strength, Balau is also highly regarded for its aesthetic appeal. The wide timber boards bring a sense of visual balance and structure to the space, while the timber’s rich, natural tone weathers gracefully over time — reducing the need for frequent maintenance while retaining warmth and character.
The result of this Papamoa renovation project is an inviting and elegant outdoor area, designed to be enjoyed for years to come.
